Flash Floods Strike Kathua Following Recent Cloudburst
A second cloudburst triggers flooding in Kathua, causing casualties.
On August 17, 2025, Kathua district in Jammu & Kashmir was hit by a second cloudburst in just days. Heavy rain triggered flash floods and landslides in remote areas, especially around Jod Ghati. At least seven people have died, several are injured, and roads remain blocked under debris. Rescue teams, including earth-movers and emergency services, are still clashing with difficult terrain to find survivors.
