Former IPS Officer Basant Rath Launches Free IAS-IPS Coaching for J&K and Ladakh Aspirants
Retired IPS officer Basant Rath has announced the launch of a coaching institute for civil service aspirants. The program will be free of cost for candidates from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and the North-East, while others will pay standard fees.
Initiative for Aspirants
On August 20, 2025, former IPS officer Basant Rath announced the opening of his coaching institute aimed at guiding aspirants of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS).
The institute will begin its inaugural batch for General Studies at its Noida centre next month, focusing solely on classroom teaching. Rath made it clear that there will be no online alternative available at present.
Free for J&K, Ladakh, and North-East Candidates
In a move that has drawn wide attention, Rath declared that the program will be offered absolutely free for candidates hailing from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and the North-East.
However, to avail this opportunity, students must first clear a walk-in interview and an essay paper.
Fee Structure for Others
For aspirants outside these regions, the institute has set a fee of ₹2.4 lakh for the 8-month long programme (inclusive of taxes).
Rath’s Message to Aspirants
In his public statement, Rath wrote:
“Dear IAS-IPS aspirants of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and the North-East, keep an eye here. My coaching institute will start its inaugural batch for general studies at its Noida centre next month. For you, it’s absolutely free.”
Why It Matters
- The initiative could significantly benefit aspirants from J&K and Ladakh, where access to quality civil services coaching remains limited.
- By removing financial barriers, Rath’s program aims to empower students from underrepresented regions in India’s toughest competitive exams.
